How do we make a reservation?
We do not allow online reservations as we are a private club for members and their guests.
Prospective members can arrange to stay in a Club Cabin while on their tour of the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club, during our off-season.
Is there a minimum stay?
During our Peak Rental Season (Last week of June until Mid-August) we only rent in advance by the week.
Renters will pay for the full time reserved and no refunds are given when renters leave before their reserved period is fully used.
Cabins left available 2 weeks prior to arrival date during peak season will be available for daily rentals.
Cabins can be rented nightly the rest of the year.
What are the Office Hours?
During Peak Rental Season (Last week of June until Mid-August), Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend Office Hours are 7 days a week 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
The remaining year Office Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Who can rent a Club Cabin?
Club Cabins are only available to Hiawatha Sportsman's Club members and their guests.
What is a guest rate?
Guests of Members staying in a Club Cabin will pay our Guest Rate.
Member privileges include a special rate on Club Cabins for current Members.
If a member makes a reservation for a guest, will they pay member rate?
No, Members have to actually stay in the Cabin to get Member Rate.
If I'm a guest of a Member, can I make my own reservation?
Guests can make their own reservation if we have notice that they are an 'approved' guest of a Member. A guest becomes approved with a courtesy phone call to the HSC Office.
What types of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
Is a deposit required?
Deposits are required only during PEAK Season Rental Season (end of June - mid-August). $175 deposit for a Member, $265 deposit for a Guest.
What do you supply?
The cabins are equipped with 2 double beds, two blankets per bed, and one roll-a-way cot.
Dishes and cooking utensils for 5 persons. Each cabin contains some basic cooking supplies. If you would like certain specific items, please bring them along.
Stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, cable television, and a row boat with Lake Millecoquin access.
Linens and towels will be provided with each cabin rental and each seventh day of occupancy.
Members and Guests are responsible to either clean or provide their own towels and lines at times other than the seventh day service.
Cabins are stocked with initial supply of toilet paper, garbage liners, dish and hand soap.
Members and Guests are responsible for additional supplies.
What do we need to bring?
Personal supplies, groceries, fans for warm weather, specific kitchen items you might need.
If your stay is lengthy, you might want to bring extra toilet paper and paper towels.
Extra towels perhaps.
How many people do the cabins sleep?
Our cabins sleep 5 people if you have more than 5 people, we asked that you reserve an additional cabin.
Is housekeeping provided?
Club cabins will be clean and tidy upon your arrival, but we do not provide housekeeping during your stay.
Do we need to bring our own linens and towels?
Linens and towels for 5 people are supplied. If you will need additional please feel free to bring more. Clean linens and towels will be provided every 7th day if your stay is lengthy.
Can I do my laundry there?
The Hiawatha Sportsman's Club Recreation Building has two washers and two dryers available for $1 a load.
The Recreation Building is opened during Prime Rental Season from 8:00AM - 4:30 PM
Members can purchase a Recreation Building key for a $5 deposit for after hour use.
Can we arrive early and/or stay late?
Check-in time is 4:00 PM.
Check-out time is 10:00 AM
Early check-in is possible if your cabin is ready, but there are no guarantees of an early check-in. Please check with the HSC Office if an early check-in is possible that day.
It is our mission to provide the cleanest cabin possible, with window between check-out and check-in allows our cleaning staff to have cabins ready without inconveniencing the next guests.
Are grills provided?
Each GROUP of Cabins has a grill and a fire pit for shared use for that group of cabin occupants.
Is firewood provided?
Our maintenance department provides a firewood supply for the Cabins and Campground. If the supply is low during your stay, please contact the Club Office and we will arrange more wood to be delivered.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcomed for a small daily fee for each pet during your stay. Please register your pet(s) at the Club Office if you being them with you. We ask that you please do not allow pets on the beds or use the blankets for pet beds. We ask that all dogs be on a leash and under control in the residential areas, including the beach area. We ask that you please be courteous of other members and their guests. NO PETS are allowed inside the Recreation Building or on the Golf Course.
Is smoking allowed?
Cabins are not opened to the public, and are for our members and their guests. We do not prohibit smoking but we ask that you be courteous of others and when smoking outside please put your butts in a proper receptacle.
Is there telephone service?
There are no telephones in the cabins. The Recreation Building has a telephone which is available for local only calls.
Is there cellular service?
Cellular service is spotty across most of the Upper Peninsula; however, near US HWY 2, Naubinway, Engadine, and the Club Office cellular service is good.
Is there a television?
Televisions are available in each cabin with basic cable.
Is there internet service?
Wi-Fi is available at the Recreation Building.
Are the cabins air conditioned?
Cabins are not air conditioned and there are no fans. If the weather in the area is expected to be warm during your stay, you might want to bring along a fan.
What sorts of children friendly activities are available?
Areas around the Cabins and the Activity Building have a swing set, a basketball court, a volleyball court, a tennis court, a mini golf course, and tether balls. Some equipment (basketballs, putters, mini golf balls, volleyballs) are available in the Activity Building. A Member-Trail/Gate key can access this equipment. The Recreation Building also has games, books, ping pong, foosball, video games, and movies with a big screen TV available for use during your stay.
Our Art Club usually offers Art Classes for ages 7 and up, once a week during July. Our Activities Committee has been getting more active recently offering family oriented activities such as hay rides, group kayak trips, and scavenger hunts. The Historical Society offers family oriented programs at the Naomi Rowe Children’s Museum on Sundays throughout the summer. Each Thursday in the summer there is the HSC Pitch-In Pot Luck at 6:30 PM, members and all guests are always welcome to bring a dish to share and your own table service. This weekly event has been a Hiawatha Sportsman’s Tradition since 1949.
Once you arrive, it’s a good idea to stop by the Club Office and get a Recreation Schedule to find out what kind of Activities are scheduled throughout the week of your visit.
Where can I rent a kayak or a boat?
The Club Office rents several Kayaks (single and double), Paddle Boats, and Hydro-Bikes. We have 2 boats with a 9.9 hp motor available for rental. Equipment rental prices are available on our website. Pontoon boats can be rented through other local businesses, for more information contact the Club Office.
What if something needs repaired during our stay?
All appliances are fully functional. Please report any problems, needed repairs or inoperable equipment to the Club Office and we can arrange for our maintenance department to make any repairs necessary as quickly and efficiently as possible. No refunds or rate adjustments will be made for any mechanical failure.
Each Cabin is also supplied with a survey to allow our Building, House, and Grounds Committee make improvements based on our Members needs and wants. Please complete this survey and return them to the Club Office during your stay.
Are you allowed to fish?
Lake Millecoquins is a public lake. Guests are welcomed to fish Lake Millecoquins. Every group of Cabins has an access to Lake Millecoquins with several row boats available for members and guests.
Fishing on the trout ponds or streams behind any of the Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club gates is for Members Only. Members and their spouses are required to purchase a sportsman’s button at the Club Office while fishing on HSC property. Any dependent required to obtain a fishing license from the State of Michigan is also required to have a sportsman’s button (currently the age is 17).
Where can we buy groceries?
Groceries and supplies can be purchased in Naubinway or in Engadine. There are several businesses in each town. Larger grocery stores are in Newberry or Manistique.
What restaurants are in the area?
Naubinway and Engadine also have a number of restaurants. The Beary Patch, D&D Mobile, Mary’s Garden are located in Engadine. CapNCarl’s Lighthouse Restaurant, Pizza Pronto, Anchor In, Country Girl, and Johnny B’s are in Naubinway. For more information on local businesses, please visit: http://www.topofthelake.org
What time do I have to check out?
Check out time if 10 AM. A great deal of work must be done to prepare a cabin for guest arrival and a delay in your departure may result in the cabin not being ready by 4 PM for the next incoming guests. We appreciate your cooperation.
Can I change my reservation?
Yes, you can make changes in your reservation by calling the Club Office. Changes are always subject to availability. During Prime Season we ask that changes be made no more than 2 weeks prior, and changing a reservation will still require a full-week stay.
What if we have to cancel?
For a refund of your deposit, cancellations must be received 2 weeks prior to your anticipated arrival date. Cancelling a reservation during Prime Season less than two week prior will result in you being billed for the time reserved.
What will I receive when making a reservation?
Once you’ve made a reservation, you will receive a confirmation either by mail or email. If a deposit is required, you will receive your confirmation after your deposit is received by the Club Office.
What if we will arrive after hours?
If you will be arriving after Office hours, we ask that you please call the Club Office and we will inform you of our after-hour check-in policy and instructions.
Are there special rates?
Being a Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club Member has benefits. A reduced Member rate is available when a Club Member is staying in a Club Cabin.
We do offer Off-Season Specials for monthly stays during October, November, December, January, February, March, and April.
During the off-season we also offer specials on renting several cabins at once (5 Cabins or more, 10 Cabins or more). These group rates include use of our Activity Building and could provide a great way to host your special event.
